This is just a B.S. and rambling review:A nice, dark psychological horror thriller from the 80’s. Old-school 80’s horror. If you know the 80’s, book market, there where countless, and I mean countless books of horror. They were like a dime a dozen. Many people thought they could write, and have a career when in reality, very few could. Kind of like what is happening today in the self-publishing market or electronic age, where every Dick and Jane pops a book out. Don’t get me wrong I love the self-publishing market, most of the books I read this day and age are by authors who started, or still are in the self-publishing market or the electronic age of Kindle and Nook, and so on and so forth. Anyways getting back to the subject at hand, The Kill Riff is one of those books that sticks out, and was thoroughly entertaining and not just another horror novel of the 80’s and 90’s boom.The author David J. Schow made his mark on the late 80’s and 90’s with what was called the Splatterpunk genre. Schow still writes today which is another genius about him, he survived the onslaught of the massive 80’s and early 90’s boom of horror novel, after horror novel. Now days he still writes, but mainly in the realm of crime stories. But it was his birth of horror that brought him to the reality of so many readers, and The Kill Riff is one of those shining examples of his talent. This has all the trademarks of horror, but what it also has is a very tight and intense plot, with so many twists and turns. I really can’t go into detail because it would give too much of the story away. Just note to yourself, that there is massive surprises in this book.
