About book The Jesus Manifesto: It's Time To Restore The Supremacy Of Jesus Christ (2010)

My friend Jesse was reading this book and showed me some great passages. The book is returning to Jesus being center of our lives, which sounds basic because it is. But it does chop a little bit at those of us who have fallen in love with ministry or pet causes or even family.I appreciated that the book causes you to look at Jesus closer and it causes you to worship.Certain sections fell flat with me, where Jesus is 'speaking to me personally.' I'm just a little uncomfortable with the book taking that position with me. I recognized that the second time it was basically the book of Colossians. I get it. I understand what the author was doing there, but I'd rather they just talk to me as themselves. :)But I do highly recommend this book. Wow what an book!! This is so much more than just another audio book about Jesus. This is encounter with Jesus that I really need everyday. This is not a devotional, although it could be used as such, this is a wonderful uncovering of who I should be worshipping and living for. I don’t know what I was expecting from this audio, but it has certainly got me thinking and meditating about Jesus so much more, something I’ve been unsuccessful at for years. The narrator, Sean Runette was very clear and easy to understand, but I did find that his delivery is too theatrical at times. He came across as trying to be mystical and it didn’t work for me. Maybe this was a good thing as it made me really concerntrate on the content instead of just the listening experience. Thanks to christianaudio.com Reviewers Program for this copy.

I'm enjoying reading not one more biography of Jesus but a "theophony" of an old, old story. gfp
