About book The Jedi Path: A Manual For Students Of The Force (2010)
An incredible resource regarding the ways of the force and the practices of the Jedi Order through the known history of the Star Wars universe. The Star Wars fan is sure to gain a deeper understanding of the movies and relate to the far more complex philosophy of the Force. A lot of cheesy annotations that will be more enjoyable if you actually have the background knowledgr to understand them but in overall it is great for some light reading. Highly reccomended for anyone interested in the Star Wars fandom. What a cool idea. The text gives you an inside look at the more everyday lifestyle of a person who joins the Jedi order, the margins give you the sense that you've found an incredibly important artifact, a book that passed through the hands of important figures throughout a long period of time. From what I can tell, it does a great job staying consistent, portraying characters personalities (through margin notes of all things), making references to other books, movies, shows and games in the franchise. it addresses difficult issues, such as should certain force powers be forbidden and why, are the Jedi justified in taking custody of force sensitive babies, and what happens when a padawans fails their knighthood trials. The text itself is very "because I said so" but the margin notes challenge, question and update the text. it really FEELS like time has passed, not just between the text and the comments, but between commenters. It's fascinating to see more recent readers remark on old margin notes, such as Ahsoka being surprised to picture Yoda as a youngling, or even Luke as Grand Master realizing he had things in common with knight Obi-wan. and then there's Sidious, creeping his way through the book, talking about his disdain for the Jedi way and bragging about conquering the Jedi, only for Luke to step in and remind us that Sidious ultimately failed at his goals.Would strongly recommend to anyone who is interested in the philosophical/political side of the Jedi, anyone who is interested in star wars novels but needs a leaping off point, and anyone who wants a guidebook on Jedi fundamentals. Good for super fans and new fans alike. I've begun reading the sequel, the book of Sith, and it's shaping up to be just as good.
