About book The Iron Jackal (2011)

The third book in the series has put me back again into the feelings I got after the first one.The second one was enjoyable enough, but somehow lack the freshness of the first (I put a 4star, but it was not so well earned). Here we are back to the real thing, when all the problems of each member of the crew are if not resolved, at least sorted out. This makes them look ahead on their lives and not back, as was in the past books. And this very thing wants you to long for the next book. Besides, every one of them has its five minutes of glory, which turns out quite fine as you end up quite happy feeling proud about what your favourite character has accomplished. The setting has its turns and seeds future lines of development, expanding the possibilities that Woodings has for this particular world of his. Ancient, forgotten and forbidden civilisations are a very old tale, but they have not lost their charm. And everything ends up blowing, in many sense other than the obvious.Very, very nice. Cannot wait for the next! I received this book through a Goodreads First Reads giveaway. This is the first Ketty Jay book that I have read. I think it would have been nice to have read the first two in the series, but it wasn't necessary for the story. This was great, rollicking fun from page one. It reminded me a lot of Indiana Jones--starts off with a bang, then gives us some back story, then back to the great adventure. I read some L. Ron Hubbard stories recently and this had the same feel--adventure for the reader, very pulp fiction-ish, very steampunk-ish. It's campy and a little stereotypical but loads of fun.I'm already looking for copies of the first two books in the series and will likely check out other books by the author.

Do You like book The Iron Jackal (2011)?

Clear 4.5 stars. The series is really developing. Could easily see HBO picking this up.
