I've been reading this chapter by chapter as a read aloud with a 3rd grader I tutor. I finally borrowed it to finish it. While it is "cute", it is also kind of lame at the end. I thought for certain being invisible would lead Billie to do a few more interesting things, but going to a shop, a movie set, a department store's candy section, and taking a subway ride to get "uninvisible" is about the extent of this adventure. I guess for a girl completely sheltered this IS an adventure, but I just think the book's premise had a lot more potential. For what it is, it is a sweet read and teaches a lesson without really teaching one, if that is possible. Good for 3rd graders even ESL students who have been here a year or so.
