About book The Hoarder In You: How To Live A Happier, Healthier, Uncluttered Life (2011)

I'm not a hoarder, though I definitely have hoarding tendencies, like a lot of people do. I read this primarily because it was a light read and I've seen the author on the show Hoarders, which I like, if only because it inspires me to do more cleaning. This book would probably be more helpful for someone who is actually dealing with a more serious problem than I have, but I did find the discussion of cognitive behavioral therapy to be helpful. I've had depression for years, ranging from mild to severe, and I think CBT would probably help me, though I'll have to hold off until I get some decent health insurance. What I particularly appreciated about this book was the concept of a clutter continuum, with mild clutter on one end and hoarding on the other, but I didn't really find much in this book that I hadn't read elsewhere. For a deeper discussion of hoarding, I liked "Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things" by Steketee and Frost. And for discussion of what to do about clutter, I have found the same information in other books. That said, this was a very easy read, with some good stories for illustration.
