I liked this book. It was another typical historic romance set during the crusades. You have a mix of Scottish and English characters. The couple from book one made an appearance but Kade's sister (book 2 romance) did not. Kade starts out knocked out and unsure where he is. He wakes up to the voice of his friend Will's sister - who of course is his soon to be love interest. Averill's father is trying to marry her off and not having much luck. Kade offers for her and they marry relatively quickly. Sands likes to add some mystery or confusion to her romance. In this book, someone is trying to kill Kade. Usually I have some clue what is going on, but I totally missed it this time. Only one man could set her heart ablaze. Lady Averill Mortagne learned to control her fierce temper as a young girl. But if her father insists on parading her before one more English lord who looks at her w/her red hair. She will simply scream! Her only respite is the time she spends w/Kade Stewart. The wounded Scot her brother brought home from the Crusades. Who could have imagined a Highland warrior would be the only gentleman around? Lady A helped save his life & for that Kade is truly grateful. She is also beautiful, but he could never subject such a sweet and gentle lady to the rough life of a Stewart laird's bride or could he? When she braves an unexpected danger by his side, Averill will prove to Kade that her heart is as fiery as her hair & that submitting to their scorching passion would be heaven indeed.
