Once I got to the "twist" in the book, I was so disappointed. I don't know what I thought was happening, but it was not that. And how did one family get a whole school system to work around one girl's problem? My school in high school certainly wouldn't have. Fast to read but a bummer of a book. And we don't even find out what's in the notebooks that Mabel said she couldn't write? That was a glitch in the story. Have you ever read a book in which the words just relate to your life so well that you want to write them down and remember them forever just to know that its normal? Not all the words, just some. And its beautiful and wonderful and realistic and eye-opening and you realize that maybe you don't need all those English lessons that teach you about adjectives because sometimes things are beautiful without them. "The Half Life of Molly Pierce" was one of the most intriguing novels i have ever read.
I'm not sure why I thought it was a time-travel book...It's not. But it's still a good read.
