The Grunt is the story of Staff Sergeant Brett Black and Courtney Lawless. We begin with Sgt. Black arriving home to find his wife leaving him and their young son for another man, but tragedy strikes and her plane goes down in the Atlantic truly leaving Brett a single parent. Brett finds himself in need of some help with his young son should be deployed. Enter Courtney Lawless, free spirited, soon to be librarian, who just happens to be the daughter of his commanding officer. After a few meetings and a date Brett ask Courtney if she would be his live in care giver for his young son. Courtney agrees and their professional relationship quickly turns to hot steamy affair. As secrets and lies are reviled, Brett and Courtney face their own individual issues that may cost them their new found love.I loved this book; I think it was a good romantic story. I am the wife of a former member of the USAir Force, I was very pleased with the fact that part of the proceeds from this book where contributed to Soldier’s Angels for those who have served and have been injured. I am an avid reader and I often go on websites and blogs to read reviews by others and I found that so many people did not like this book and I must say to each her own, I love getting everyone’s point of view, this why I love to read, you can have 100 people read the same book and all have different views on it, no one is wrong ,it’s just what interpreted it. It was a great book I loved how it described the military system. Great read, she is a good author I read the ugly girlfriend by her and it moved me so I tried this book this was a good one as well. This book shows that there are still good men out there. Brett was a good character, well defined and developed. Courtney was too, me being close to her age could not wrap my mind around wanting a family at such a young age besides that the character was well defined and developed . The wife omg I wish she they could of had more stuff happened to her. Great read and it's cheap!!!
