About book The Grimm Diaries Prequels 1- 6: Snow White Blood Red, Ashes To Ashes & Cinder To Cinder, Beauty Never Dies, Ladle Rat Rotten Hut, Mary Mary Quite Contrary, Blood Apples (2012)
This was horrible. Just horrible. These novellas are filled with contradictions, the action moves too fast, the writing made me want to pound my head against a wall. I love the idea but I wish someone who knows the ins and outs of writing was doing this. All the characters talk like spoiled-brat teens and the dialogue is unrealistic. I also find it annoying when writers use characters' dialogue to tell us stuff, especially when they go on and on and you're like, "Seriously, there is no way someone would talk like this in real life."A real disappointment. Thank goodness it's free so at least you're not wasting money. The Grimm Diaries Prequels is an introduction to the Grimm Diaries series. I understand that this is only a preview of what us to come, I mean that is what a prequel is. That being said, I had a difficult time getting into each story. Each novella is told by a new character. I think the quick switching between the characters and stories is what made it difficult for me. However, I am intrigued by the spin the author has on a lot of these well known fairy tales. It is definitely creative. Just because I didn't fully enjoy this set of prequels and give it a higher rating doesn't mean I won't be reading the full length novels. I will. I know that once I do read the novels, these novellas will make more sense and I will be glad for them.

The idea behind this series is great, it just needs more fleshing out in the writing department.
