About book The Girl With No Name: The Incredible True Story Of A Child Raised By Monkeys (2013)
This is an amazing story of a girl who was abandoned in a jungle and grew up with a group of monkeys. But what I enjoyed reading was after she left the jungle. Even though she had to face so much difficulties, such as living on streets or working like a slave, she never gave up believing in someone, something, and kept fighting with darkness inside and out. I simply admire her strength for doing it. I'm not sure if I believe the story - the book starts with a 5 year old girl kidnapped and abandoned in the jungles of Central America who survives by living with a troupe of monkeys - and that may be one of the more believable parts of the story, as she later is sold into slavery and makes miraculous escape after miraculous escape. Still, even if this is the false and/or invented memories of a highly traumatized child, the story is engrossing and will be sure to fuel a good book club discussion.
