A must read for fellow perfectionists! Beatrice was able to accomplish what most of us cannot - perfection... no mistakes ever. However, it comes with a cost: she cannot do anything she might fail at, only things she knows she can do right, and that means not as much room for fun (sound familiar, anybody?). When she finally makes a mistake, she realizes it is okay. And goes on to live a much more carefree and creative life. It is a simple story of a girl who wasn't know by name but by her perfection. She did everything right and the pressure that she placed on herself to continue that perfection. When she does make a mistake her reaction to laugh frees her from the pressure of perfection. It also allows her to learn and grow, living life willing to take chances. A great book to use in the classroom at the beginning of the year as we work together to build community... this is a classroom where we are going to learn with each other and from each other, where it is ok to make a mistakes. "Now, people no longer call her the Girl Who Never Makes Mistakes. They just call her Beatrice."
