About book The Girl Who Cried Monster (2005)

The Book I am reviewing name is GOOSEBUMPS THE GIRL WHO CRIED MONSTER by RL Stines. It is a science fiction book. My thinking is the books theme is that you shouldn’t scare your little brother with lame monster stories because after a while they would start to not believe you.The book starts with Lucy telling the story of the librarian being a monster. Her story starts with Lucy like scaring her brother randy by telling him monster stories. It was summer time and Lucy was in this program named reader rangers program every week she has to go to the library to pick out books and she had to read the books. One day when she was returning home from the library she noticed that she had forgotten her new roller in the library so then she went inside the library and saw Mr. Mortman (her librarian) was a monster. She saw him eating insects and change into his monster form. She ran home and tried to tell her parent but they didn’t believe her. The next day she went back to the library, when the library was closed she started to spy on Mr. Mortman she also brought her camera this time. When Mr. Mortman was changing into a monster she took a picture. The monster was temporarily blinded because of the flash. Mr. Mortman started to follow her but she finally escaped. That night when she got the photos developed she was in a huge shock, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing to know more about this book, read the book!!! The main character of this book was obviously Lucy. The other characters were Mr. Mortman Lucy’s librarian who was a monster. Randy was Lucy’s little brother and she really likes to scare him with her ghost stories. Aaron is Lucy’s friend he is the only friend that is not going anywhere for his vacation. The last character I am going to talk is Lucy’s parents they are really caring but a little annoyed of Lucy’s habit of telling randy scary monster stories, and scaring him to death. My most favorite character in this whole book was Mr. Mortman because he is a monster and he was the first person to scare Lucy until the end of the book. the character I hated the most was Lucy because she was scaring her little brother randy with those lame monster stories. The book like rocks in the starting the book is a little boring but later it becomes really interesting. This book has interesting plots. The ending was a little weird because I didn’t expect an ending like that. My favorite scene is when Lucy first saw the monster she was like trembling in fear and was frozen by the shock that Mr. Mortman was a monster. I have never seen or heard anyone being that scared in my 18 years of lifetime. The book was really descriptive. I can visualize every part of the book because this book wasn’t even close to confusing its pretty easy book to read. I had only one question about this book was will Lucy die in the end but unfortunately she doesn’t die. The book affected me by that I would never tell ghost stories to anyone and I will not stalk my school librarian because what if I find out she is a monster too that would scare me to death.I would recommend this book to people who is pretty much like me and who loves scary books. I would also recommend this book to kid because this book is really easy it has not even one single bad word. The overall book is great if I had to rate it I would’ve given it a three out of five because it wasn’t what I was expecting from this author and book. I had read a Goosebumps book it was like a few years ago I don’t remember the stories name but I surely know what the book is about it is about vampires in the end it turns out that the main character is a vampire. In the girl who cried monster the ending is fully same to that book. This book is kind of great but it’s worth reading. It is not even close to scary but is really interesting in a few parts but some are annoying I would recommend this book to everyone especially children’s because it no bad words in it. It is also really easy and well described and has twisting plots. It kind of an average kind of a book but I still recommend it to people who like scary books with a little spice of mysterious plots which uncovers in the end. If I had to rate this book I would probably give it 3 out of 5. So that was the end of my book review.

As the name implies, "The Girl Who Cried Monster" is basically a retelling of the old fairy tale "The Boy Who Cried Wolf." Lucy is a young girl obsessed with monsters. She is constantly telling stories to her friends and family and scaring her little brother by saying she saw a monster in a tree or under his bed. So of course nobody believes her when she sees a real one.The books gets off to a bad start right from the cover. In a word, it's uninspiring. Lucy is peeking into an office where a fat little librarian is looking at flies. Nothing too scary here. It would be better if he was transforming into a monster or eating the flies on the cover. And for the most part, the story doesn't improve much. She tells some monster stories, goes to a reading club where she sees the librarian transform, and then nobody believes her. Lather, rinse, repeat. She is caught once, but she get away by knocking over the card catalog. The monster was so distracted by the disorganized cards that Lucy is able to get away. That is just dumb. He was more worried about some disorganized cards than people discovering he's a monster? The ending is all that saves this book. The family invited the librarian for dinner. When he asks what they are having, they respond "YOU." Turns out, the Dark family are also monsters. I was a bit surprised by this so I'll give it credit. Not ending on a cliffhanger is also a nice departure from the norm. But the ending all happens in the last 3 pages. The other 140 pages are pretty poor. When only about 2% of the book is good, you know you're in for a bad ranking.1. Night of the Living Dummy2. Say Cheese and Die3. Welcome to Dead House4. Stay Out of the Basement5. Monster Blood6. The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb7. Let's Get Invisible 8. The Girl Who Cried Monster

Do You like book The Girl Who Cried Monster (2005)?

I gave this book a three for a rating because it does not really have the thrill factor that I was looking for. The story is pretty plain. It is just the story the boy who cried wolf.Lucy loves monster stories. She loves it so much she talks about until they get sick of it. Then one day she sees a real monster. She tells everybody but they don't believe her. She tells them its the Liberian in charge of the summer reading program. Know that she told everyone the Liberian is after her and no one is there to help.

Lucy Dark loves monster stories. Her favorite pastime is scaring her little brother, Randy, with crazy monster tales she's concocted. But Randy's not the only one! She tells her crazy monster tall tales to her best friend Aaron, and her parents, too! Randy's the only one who ever even half believes her - after all, he's only 6!Lucy goes to the library for her Reading Rangers program. Mr. Mortman is the kindly librarian. The thing all of us kids hated the most about him was that his hands always seemed to be wet. He would smile at you with those beady little black eyes of his lighting up on his plump, bald head. He would reach out and shake your hand. And his hand was always SOPPING! When he turned the pages of books, he'd leave wet fingerprints on the corners. His desktop always had small puddles on the top, moist handprints on the leather desk protector. Anyway, he seems like a nice guy - if a little strange. He keeps pet turtles in the library and loves reading. But one day, Lucy forgets her rollerblades and goes back to the library to get them. It's then that she sees a horrifying sight: Mr. Mortman is a monster! As he struggled to unscrew the jar lid, Mr. Mortman's face began to change. His head floated up from his turtleneck and started to expand, like a balloon being inflated. I uttered a silent gasp as I saw his tiny eyes poke out of his head. The eyes bulged bigger and bigger, until they were as big as doorknobs. ... Mr. Mortman continued to hum, even as his head bobbed and throbbed above his shoulders and his eyes bulged out as if on stems, poking straight up like insect antennae. And then his mouth began to twist and grow. It opened wide, like a gaping black hole on the enormous, bobbing head. Lucy makes a run for it, bursting with the need to tell everyone what she's seen. But no one will believe her. After all, she is monster-obsessed.What Lucy needs is proof. Can she get it without being caught?...I enjoyed this, the 8th installment in the Goosebumps series. I especially liked the surprise ending. (view spoiler)[ Lucy's family is a family of monsters, and at the end of the book they devour Mr. Mortman alive. (hide spoiler)]

Lucy Dark loves to tell stories about monsters. She especially loves to frighten her little brother, Randy, with them. When she sees the librarian, Mr. Mortman, change into a real monster, no one believes her. Worst of all, Mr. Mortman might know that Lucy saw him. Will she convince her parents that she's telling the truth, before it's too late? The Girl Who Cried Monster is the eighth book in R. L. Stine's Goosebumps series. Stine's take on The Boy Who Cried Wolf, its protagonist, Lucy, will have a hard time convincing her parents that the librarian is a monster, before he can eat her up to silence her.(Spoilers removed. The full review, including spoilers, is available here.)The Girl Who Cried Monster is a good entry in the Goosebumps series. It doesn't appear to be available for the Kindle, so this is another one you'll have to pick up a paper copy of. With the abundance of used Goosebumps books available, though, that's no great hardship.
