About book The Forgotten Child (2014)

Struggling with if this book is 2 or 3 stars. I picked this book up because I thought the autism part of it sounded interesting. I liked Emily, but she was too much of a pushover. I also felt like the book was possibly misogynistic; Emily kept saying she wanted a man to take care of her and Brad didn't treat Emily as an equal. Brad wasn't that likeable; he got better as the book went on, but was mean and rude when Emily fell in love with him. So that made me question Emily. However, I did keep reading the book and didn't abandon it, so that's better than the last book I attempted! Loved this book, believable characters and story line. As usual Ms. Eckhart has written a great book. Imagine being married with a child and then you are divorced, on your own with a small child, no money and no hopes of landing a good job. Emily was in that place, no money no hopes, she answered an ad for a Caregiver and Cook, her life a s she knows it will suddenly change. This book also gives us a little insight into what it would be like to raise a child with special needs.
