About book The Fiddler's Gun (2014)

I will probably try this series again in a few years. It was well written, and I was captivated by the setting (Georgia during the Great Awakening and War for Independence). I have to confess I started speed reading when Fin left Ebenezer, because I just wanted her to get back and marry Peter. (Sigh....) The story of Bartimaeus and his conversion at the preaching of George Whitefield was beautiful. Recommended for adults, as the content and language is rough at times. More of a 3.5 star book. The plot was engaging but not terribly deep. The story was charming but, I wanted more out of the characters. Some characters shine (Barty and Jack) others fall short (Peter). I was hoping for real growth and reconciliation but perhaps I'll find that in the next book. The book was enjoyable but, not terribly accurate for historical fiction. But, throughly enjoyable for a light, quick read.

A fresh twist on a classic storyline. Well constructed characters and easy to read. Well enjoyed!

A great book for teens. Quite violent but a fun story. I need to read the second book now.
