About book The Favored Daughter: One Woman's Fight To Lead Afghanistan Into The Future (2012)

A very intriguing book. I felt like it was a Hollywood movie. So much of it was so unbelievable, yet true. I can't even begin to imagine what life in Afghanistan was like during her life so far. Her life was so tragic, yet she has come so far and is now quite a political influence. To read about her life is just heart wrenching. Every time things began to look up, a tragedy happened. She spent so much time running and hiding that it seems impossible that anyone could live that way. She is a woman to be admired. Her life is in constant danger still as she is in parliament and continues to speak out. I thought she was going to run for president, but she has decided it is not the right time; that Afghanis aren't ready for a woman president yet. Hopefully, that day will come. Like many other posters, I bought this book after seeing the author on The Daily Show. Really enjoyed reading her story and her perspective which I think is important for people who really want to understand the culture in that war torn country which has been ravaged by decades of unrest.Remember The Taliban do not define these people and that is one of the best reasons to read this little book.
