I had a lot of trouble connecting with any of these characters. Why a man would indulge his ex-wife to whom he hadn't been married in over a quarter of a century escapes me. He runs into the step-daughter that he supposedly loved more than anyone who is now a 29-year-old salon coat check girl and they fall into a relationship that is tighter than any either had before now. I am having trouble even remembering how this book ends and I just finished it a couple of weeks ago. Yet another book I've read recently that seems like contemporary Austen, The Family Man is a decent enough book as long as you temper your expectations. The characters are well-written, likable, and funny. The plot, on the other hand, while not wafer-thin, is pretty close. This is one of the few books I've read in recent memory that could actually benefit from an extra plotline or two. The plot is also pretty repetitive, but the dialogue is entertaining enough to see you through. If you want something frothy and fairly fun, this might be just what the doctor ordered.
funny, cute :) enjoying this. A nice change from some of the heavier books I've been reading.

An all-around pleasant, warm-hearted family drama/comedy. A fun and quick read.

Love her books, but this one was just okay. I got bored at the end.
