About book The Epic Love Story Of Doug And Stephen (2011)

At first this book was quirky and refreshing. I got a few laughs throughout the book. But then it became repetitive and tedious. My biggest issue was the blocky text and paragraphs. This book is approx. 4900 Kindle locations and if I weren't off today it would have taken me days to finish this. This book felt long and it was a chore to finish. The author gave us everything and the kitchen sink. We didn't need a lot of stuff that was thrown at us. I thought this was gonna be an epic love story and it wasn't. It turned out to be an investigative piece into corporate greed and corruption.Let's talk about the main characters. Doug was funny in the beginning but then his stupidity started to grate on my nerves. Stephen, I just plain out did not like. Stephen was so mean to Doug. I don't understand why he even put up with Doug's antics. I started to skim so I'm not sure if Stephen ever told Doug he loved him, but I don't think so. Don't even get me started on the nonexistent sex in this. Fade to black. Come on! Doug turned gay for Stephen. We could've at least seen some man on man action there. Did Stephen take Doug's cherry? I don't think so. I have to infer that Doug topped Stephen since they did things Doug had done with girls before.I did like Wilson, the drug dealing best friend. He had some funny lines. Didn't buy who the corporate bad guy turned out to be. Doug's mom was pretty cool as well. I am giving it 3 stars, although it really wasn't my normal cup of tea. Doug was an IDIOT! but I liked his philosophy of how to treat people and Stephen was a jerk! and I really didn't get them as a couple. However, the book was saved by some scenes that literally cracked me up and that I had to read out loud to my husband - the most memorable one is when they played "I Never" with Stephen drinking diet soda! The dialogue was over the top silly, but if that is the type of book you love I could see how this would be an enjoyable book (I'm just more a drama/angst girl, myself).

DNF at 30%. A few funny moments, but I'm finding this story really unlikeable so far.
