Do You like book The Edge (2000)?
I agree with other reviewers who are familiar with Coulter's writing and this series. This book is not one of the better ones. I'm still giving it three stars because I enjoy the series characters and because the main premise--Ford Macdougal's sister was injured and almost killed when she drove off a cliff; was she suicidal, or something else--has a lot of thriller suspense satisfying potential. Unfortunately Coulter does not deliver as expected, in my opinion, and based on the previous books in this series, particularly The Maze. There are some interesting moments but Coulter glosses over some details, leaves unresolved questions, and goes into inane details unnecessarily. I would recommend a full overhaul and revision for this one. It has the makings of a great story with some more work. Perhaps the author was under publisher deadline on this one. I'll keep reading the series with the expectation that Coulter answers some of my questions in flashback. The books do link together in this manner

I've read this series several times, and overall I like it. This book however, is not one of my favorites.We first met our main character, Ford MacDougal, as Lacy Sherlock's training partner in The Maze. He was shipped overseas and injured. While in the hospital, he has a dream/vision that his sister has been injured. He rushes to her, they live in a small town on the west coast called Edgerton. There he finds things with his sister and her husband are not what it seems to be. Things are pointing to drugs, and Columbian drug lords. Mac takes his concerns to the local FBI agent, and again he's not sure if shes a good guy, a bad guy or another victim. Savitch and Sherlock come in as backup. And they all end up in a bad way and need to escape being held prisoner by the drug cartel.I had a hard time following this story, even when my favorite agents Savitch and Sherlock show up to save the day. It was hard to finish this book. I love the series and will read the next one.
