I enjoyed this book. Number #10 but very few overlapping characters, but I could be wrong. Impoverished Isabella tries to get a job as a governess, but she is just too beautiful. The Earl wants her as his mistress instead. A title that actually works!! She of course says no, but having no other prospects, she goes back to London and decides that she must find a rich protector. Coincidentally, the "mistress matchmaker" has been asked to find a particular looking woman. So when she turns up at the appointed house, he is surprised to see it is her. She is equally surprised. Read to see how that turns out!! There is also a mystery involving her cousin who is desperate to marry her. The psychological underpinning of the Earl's problems is very well done. There is some mild S&M sex, and of course true love follows. Isabella is applying for a position as a governess with the Earl of Hepplewood, a notorious rogue. There is an immediate attraction. Recognizing this and not wanting temptation living in his home, teaching his daughter, he rejects her application. For Isabella it is the last straw; she has care of 2 stepsisters and is being pressured for her overdue rent, etc. Through a previous employer she makes contact with a matchmaker, one who finds mistresses for titled men. Of course, she is matched with Tony, who even though he rejected her as a governess, cannot get her out of his mind. An affair begins which is both hot and emotional. I really enjoyed the book.
