If you like ABC’s Once Upon A Time, you’ll love this story… Fascinating and frustrating at the same time. I’ll try and break it down:Plot: three stars. It was interesting and fast-paced, but I definitely did feel like Alice down the rabbit hole at times, at a loss for what was going on. And Adrianne added plot elements on a whim, it seemed, which sometimes worked but sometimes did not.Characters: four stars. The characters were compelling; even the side characters were well-developed and interesting. I particularly liked Maleficent the Stripper. I’d want her for my fairy godmother.Overall: If one doesn't mind getting a little lost on the journey, this paranormal romance weaves fairy-tale with modern culture in a unique yet fascinating story about a girl, cursed to attract fanatical prince charmings wherever she goes, and the Dragon King who saves her while falling under her spell. I don't typically read romance but I gave this a try and I was presently surprised. The main character was authentic (well at least as authentic as you could be in her ridiculous situation). I liked the fairy tale twist. It was kind of a what-would-you-do-if-you-were-stuck-in-a-warped-version-of-cinderella type of thing. I do with agree with some of the other reviewers that it's gets a bit too dark, with demons and heads being cut off etc. This seemed unnecessary and detracted. Overall a good story though.
