I thought I would give the Diamondback Ranch Series a chance since all books, except this one, have an over-all Goodreads rating of over 4 Stars. I found the McCade Family to be likeable, with Dallas McCade being the only exception. Cameron McCade is the lead in this book and the story revolves around his interest in Jessie Kincaid. The story starts out in the past, recalling the one and only date between the teenagers, Jessie and Cameron. They went to his Senior Prom together. Jessie was an innocent tomboy that got a last minute Prom invite by the Homecoming King,Football Star, very popular Senior,Cameron. This was a really big deal for the shy freshman. Then the story continues 17 years later, when Cameron returns home for his mom’s birthday. He is now a successful Doctor in Houston and Jessie is a young widow running her late father’s mechanic shop. These two are “hot” for each other, but a future for them together doesn’t really seem possible. For one, Cameron lives in Houston and Jessie has no plans to leave her home and business. Then to make matters more complex, Jessie is in a feud with Cameron’s older brother, Dallas. Plus, she has unresolved issues about marriage to her late husband. Of course, these two give into their feelings and a lustful affair begins. The only issue I had with this couple, was the part that they secretly has been in love with each other since Prom. Now, I might buy they were infatuated with each other, but not love. I also felt the author fell short on telling the backstory of how Jessie was able to get the funds to start a medical clinic. For those reasons, I rate this book 3.8. As their love story progress, I was getting very attached to this couple, as well as the entire McCade family, and the town, especially, Sarah Sue. I know I will be reading the other books in this entertaining Series. This was an amazing book. I was hooked from the start. After 17 years of being in different places Cameron and Jessie find themselves together again. As tgey fight the attraction and what they feel is right to do they come together in a sizzling passion. Jessie Kincaid has only ever loved one man, but never thought ahe would get him. Now 17 years later after much heartache she has her chance at true happiness, bit will her stubbornness and guilt stop her?Cameron McCade followed his plans for his life. Even after leaving home 17 years ago he still is restless and has no clue what he wants I life. He goes to visit his family for his mom's birthday and finds a possible cure for his restless soul. The question is will he stop following his carefully planned life and go with that cure?Anne Marie Novark is an amazing writer. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!
