I don't even know where to start. First off I am no stranger to Dark romances, but at times in this one I even questioned myself if this was for me. I continued to tell myself that I would just finish that chapter, and then the next page, until i was so emotionally invested in the story. This book ripped my heart up and then put it back together over and over again. It has been a long time since a book has brought me to tears the way this one did with its unexpected turns. To end this book the way it did was absolutely heat breaking, but oh so perfect. Mae is my absolute favorite Heroine I have ever read. She is the toughest most selfless character. Daniel on the other hand filled me with hate, but this amazing Author had the ability to make me fall in love with him and I'm still trying to figure out how and when it happened.....I never even planned on reading this book. It came in a 3 book package and I decided to read a few pages. It took me by surprise and left my heart and soul consumed with "peace". "love". I am completely lost!!!This is not what i expected. The ending completely broke my heart. The story itself was as dark as it gets. Mae and Daniel gradually becomes everything to each other. I could see the way they affected each other. I could feel their pain, confusion, hatred. And yes there was a lot of hatred. Daniel stole every ounce of happiness in Mae's life. He truly decimated her. He destroyed her. He was a part of her that would never disappear. However, Mae found light in her darkness. She fought to see what truly hid beneath her master's cold stare. In all her pain and torment, Mae fell in love with the man who took her life and in return he finally loved her back.
