About book The Cross Gardener (2010)

I was able to listen to the audio of this book. This book is a sad story, but is worth reading. It is the story of a man who loses his wife and baby just weeks before the baby was due. He struggles to carry on and care for their daughter. He visits the crosses at the site of the accident, discovering that someone is tending them (the Cross Gardener). He strikes up an interesting relationship with this mystery man. The ending was a bit of a surprise. This book deals with the heart break, spiritual questions and emotions that the main character experiences. The Cross Gardener is a good easy read. I rank it up there with Mitch Albom's Tuesday's With Morrie and The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. A sad but hopeful story of a man who learns to celebrate the living by letting go of the past.Next time you see those little white crosses on the side of the road, you'll take a moment to reflect on who died there, who grieves and who trims the weeds and sets fresh flowers.
