About book The Confidence Code: The Science And Art Of Self-Assurance – What Women Should Know (2014)

I'm a bit puzzled as to what drew me to this book but I did enjoy it and learned from it. It is well organized and informative. My criticism is primarily that it is one of those books which does not have quite enough material so it is loquacious and repetitious. In addition, I have a prejudice against any book which aspires to appear as serious non-fiction but does not have an index. It also overlooks indicating where the reference notes occur. I do not understand why they would do this - is the publisher trying to cut corners?Anyway, it was worthwhile but could have been better I hadn't intended on reading this book, but as I waited for my short stack of movies to be checked out from the library, I looked over and notice the title. I haven't yet read "Womenomics", but had known of both authors, Kay & Shipman - so what the heck, right? It reads more like a few gal-pals chatting over coffee and that was okay with me. The science may be there, although, it felt glossed over. That was okay with me, as well. Let's face it - this is one ENORMOUS topic to cover."The Talent Myth" I found particularly interesting. I know many (many) women who suffer from this and it is both infuriating and heartbreaking. The authors mention Carol Dweck and suggest that you read anything that she writes. I would agree. This is NOT a book just for women. This is a book and a topic for everyone. To my friends with daughters - read this. It will help both genders for sure, but hopefully girls.
