About book The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales (2000)

These classics are something that are a must read as in our modern times we have twisted or changed these beloved fairy tales and we don't truly know what they are like, you do get morals from them but they are very blunt (so would not suggest reading these to young children). But do not go in reading this very book if you expect a lovely sweat disney fairy tale with true loves kiss, forgiveness or anything that is a little bit like that as these are not at all the same. I have always liked fairy stories, have done since I was a young child. I have to admit though that I think the only tale that I had read before was Snow White (the more well-known story not the one with Rose Red), the Sleeping Beauty tale, Tom Thumb etcetera I knew of but had not read (in fact I have read more Celtic fairy tales than I have the more well known ones - you have to love Thin, Brown and Trembling (at least I think that is what it is called) which is the Celtic Cinderella story).I had heard the 'learn to shiver' story and at the Golden Goose one somewhere along the way as I recalled elements but I certainly had not read them before. If this was put together by volunteers this is very well done and I couldn't recommend this enough to fans of fairy tales.
