About book The Collected Stories, The Legend Of Drizzt (2011)
I haven't read any of the forgotten realm stories before, and this was the first ever audio book for me as well. It's very difficult to compare to actual text-books, but I enjoyed it very much, the stories were engaging, the characters became alive in my mind, and I could not wait to find out what happens next. It was interesting to hear so many familiar voices reading different chapters. All in all - great experience, highly recommended! I picked this up because of the buzz it received earlier this year when it was revealed that Ice-T was one of the narrators. I thought, "Hilarious! Must acquire!" And I did. Unfortunately, these stories were soulless, with mostly soulless narrators. I honestly didn't think that Felicia Day would be my favorite narrator of the bunch, but she was definitely the best, good job Felicia. Also props to Michael Chiklis.I had to skip the chapter narrated by Ice-T. It was horrible and monotone. I also had to skip the chapter narrated by David Duchovny for much the same reason. The stories themselves were uninteresting. I guess I have left Drizzt in the past. Also, there was not a SINGLE story told from the point of view of a lady, not even Catti-Brie. In fact, she only featured in ONE story (the voice actress was nails on a chalk board horrible) in a paltry side role.Yes, I'd say I have left Drizzt's world behind.
