Think Hallmark Christmas special. If you like them, I think you'll like this book and most of this author's other Christmas stories. If you don't like them, you will probably want to pass this by. Yet, this book is a little more mature than most of her other Christmas stories. We don't get page upon page of the characters mentally rehashing their issues. The plot moves nicely, and there is a bit of mystery as we try to figure out who the mysterious Matilda is. Even the ending isn't quite as abrupt as it is in most of this author's other Christmas stories. It is still light holiday fare, but it is a little bit more than a romance. If you're looking for something to enjoy by the holiday fire, this could fit the bill. Another lovely Christmas tale from Melody Carlson...Most of the townspeople find their recent newcomer Matilda to be eccentric. They don't want her in their town opening up a second-hand store without the proper zoning and permits. They don't really want her in their town at all. For his own reasons, the Town Councilman George Snider is leading the pack of those wanting to oust her. Meetings are held. Tempers flare. People are concerned about their own businesses. One at a time they step inside her shop to suggest she leave and she irritatingly suggests they look around for something they need. This only serves to prove there's something wrong with her. After all, who in their right mind would want any of this junk? One by one...
