Jon J Muth of the ‘Zen’ books like Zen Ties, and Lauren Thompson of Polar Bear Night collaborate in what will be a favorite Christmas tale of Santa for a long time. Santa begins readying for the magic to come, calling in the reindeer, polishing the sleigh, mending his woolen socks! At last “the” magic arrives, and he’s off! The illustrations and words softly blend into a beautiful story. Details in both are lovely. I imagine poring over this with my grandchildren more than once. A different take on how Santa prepares for Christmas Day. I quit enjoyed it but my daughter kept telling me "No, no, no. That's not what happens." This was most funny to me because we never really did the whole Christmas thing with her. Sure we have a tree and presents but I never told her there was a Santa. She just felt this depiction of Santa was to off from the stories we have read in the past.
