About book The Chase, Volume 1 (2000)

The Chase, Volume One is a great read. It is definitely a must read.Dean Chase is a player. To Dean woman are just a number. He has 735 notches is his proverbial belt. When he see Blair, he wants her to be number 736. So, when I first read that Dean had been with 735 woman, I was like eew gross. In other books I have read the main guy character has slept over but I have never read a book where the main character counts his conquest. Dean's number of conquests didn't bother me for long because Dean is such a great character.Dean and Blair are great, well written characters. Dean doesn't sugarcoat anything. He is a straight forward guy. Blair is feisty and doesn't fall for Dean immediately. Blair doesn't let Dean get away with a lot of thing his other woman did. I loved reading the email interaction back and forth from Dean and Blair. This is Volume 1, so of course there is a cliffhanger. The Chase, Volume 2 is now out so you don't have to wait to continue reading Dean and Blair's story. I one clicked The Chase, Volume 2 right away. I love Jessica Wood's books. She makes feel good when I read her books and smile. I love her writing style and her characters.Having said that... I hate Dean Chase. He is the player of women, master of the one-night-stand (with 735 notches on his bedpost), and cocky is not enough to describe his hubris. He feels entitled to approach a woman, WHO HAS NOT ENTICED HIM, and proceed to make his rude pitch to take her to bed right that minute. Who does he think he is? Oh, yeah, I have to remember he is a fictional character! I hope he is not based on a real character... I also hope I never meet this character or a punch in the face will not be enough. This is the first installment of this series. All I can hope is he gets his just deserves! I hope Blair makes him suffer and somehow, he will develop some degree of maturity and a heart. Come on, Jessica! Make this guy re-invent himself so he no longer is the man you hate to love!
