About book The Cell Phone Swap (2000)

Wow! This book was really good. I mean, cell phone swap story line is not that original. Its been done before. People talk on phone and fall in love. That seems pretty unbelievable. But the author somehow makes it work. One of the best parts of the story is that there is no instant love. There is not even instant attraction because they come face to face much later in the story. I loved the chemistry between Keelie and Talon is so good. I really love Keelie and I can't understand Vincent's angle yet. My personal favorite is the nickname Talon has for Keelie 'Babydoll'. I can imagine his southern accent calling her that. The book is totally awesome and I totally loved it. I would definitely recommend this book more for girls than for guys because this book is very chickflicky and almost like a fan-fiction except for you aren't actually in the book.I enjoyed this book because the whole idea ph this 'cell phone swap' seems unimaginable but could happen in our society today since it seems many people have the same phones. The story begins in a carnival where Keeley is with her best friend Nicky waiting in line to go on a ferris wheel when Keeley realises she lost her phone. Retracing where she had been she realised she had left it at the table where they ate and quickly ran to hopefully find her phone there. Her heart stopped as she go to the table to find nothing there, when she suddenly sees what to think is her phone on the floor, grabs it and runs back to Nicky. Later that night she receives a call from an unknown number, curious to find out who it is she answers. The person tells her that they by mistake had swapped phones and at first Keeley didn't believe it but she checked the background and knew that it was no longer her phone. Talon, her phone holder, and Keeley decided they'd have to meet up to swap phones. The next day Keeley finds out that Talon was on his way to a football camp and she would have to wait a week before getting her phone back. Angry about this Keeley tells Talon off for not letting her know this information earlier. As the week passes Keeley and Talon pick at each other and playing this sort of revenge game. They speak everyday and as the end of the week comes closer Nicky admits to Keeley that she thinks Keeley has feeling for Talon but Keeley refuses to listen. The day is finally here for them to meet and Keeley gets ready. They meet at the coffee shop, Java hut. Keeley gets there a little early so she orders a drink and waits for Talon. The meet up goes fine until Keeley mentions her brother, Zach. Talon begins to freak out and just tells Keeley he needs to go. Keeley confused, went to the Surf Shack shop to see Nicky and tell her what happened. When Keeley got home her parents informed her that Zach was bringing a freshman home to prep for football season. Dinner went pretty well and around 1 Talon calls Keeley drunk and that made her mad.First day of school came up for Keeley and she couldn't get Talon out of her mind. She was worried about him.Saturday came along and it was time for Keeley to go visit Brent, her crush since freman year, and the campus he's at. Keeley recalled that Talon had told her he would tag along but wasn't sure if he'd join after what happened. Talon ended up being on the train. The weekend passed fast and Talon and Keeley grew closer. Keeley's crush for Talon grew stronger and she was falling hard. The day they were coming back Zach came to pick Keeley up and thats how she found out Talon was actually JT. Caos went loose and we grew angry at Talon for lying to her. Talon kept trying to see Keeley to explain to her that there was a reason behind why he did not tell her. After a couple of days she decided to finally let Talon explain his reasoning and he ended up 'ordering' her to go on a date with him. Stunned by this Keeley refused and told him he needed to change if he wanted her to say yes. Talon then decided he'd woe Keeley into saying yes which in the end she did.
