This book, by Candace Bushnell, is the story of a girl with a passion for writing whom ventures out into the city getting away from her small hometown where her friends seem to be stuck at. The Carrie Diaries are written about Carrie Bradshaw, a young writer hoping to make it in the crazy city of Manhattan. Carrie’s father lands her an internship at a law firm located in the city. One summer day, Carrie meets Larissa a Magazine sales person. Instantly Larissa sees something in Carrie and Carrie finds herself going behind her father’s back and taking the internship. She faces many bumps throughout the novel, including loss of close friends and heartbreak. Anyone who loves books with intriguing thoughts, exciting love, and close encounters will enjoy The Carrie Diaries. Personally, I loved Carrie and her sense of style and passion for everything going on around her, she noticed the smallest things that, in the end, always seemed to be the most important. There wasn’t much to dislike about this book, though it definitely has a target audience: Young Adult/Women. Overall, I would recommend this book to any girl who loves a good read, has a good sense of humor, and loves books that keep you interested at every word. Candace Bushnell's The Carrie Diaries was probably one of the best books I've read recently. This book would be best for girls going through high school who just want to read a really good book. Its all about Carrie going through her senior year of high school trying to figure out what to do after. During the summer she tried to get into a summer writing program but didn't get in so she is really in a rut. But then she finds out there is a new boy, and it's Sebastian Kydd. Sebastian was the boy of her dreams when she was kid but then he moved away, and now that he is back he becomes very chummy with her. But maybe he isn't as perfect as she thought. This book really shows that you don't need a boy to be happy. And during the book Carrie is having a huge internal conflict with herself because she doesn't know what to do with her life, and if Sebastian is getting in the way. Overall this book was just amazing and I will highly likely finish the series.
