I shouldn't like these kinds of books. I don't like scary books, don't like creepy books. I'm just not into vampires. But I love these Nathaniel Cade books. This was only a short story but I loved it. Very atmospheric. Zach and Cade are back. This time they're investigating spontaneous human combustion. I hope this gets the author back in the mood to write the next book in the series. He owes us after that cliff-hanger at the end of volume 3. Really. Owes. Us. A quick read and another adventure of Nathaniel Cade....Even though this is a short one it is still worth reading. You won't feel completely lost if you haven't read any of the others in the series as this one really doesn't follow in the same story line of history. This is a good teaser for our next Cade adventure but we're still waiting on it....The only downfall to this short story is the not much build up....it just kinda happens and then ends literally....
A reasonable short story; a fine reminder that the Nathaniel Cade series is a fun read.
