Really really really good second book! It takes place 10 years after the ending of book one, and is told from a new voice - Oree Shoth. I really enjoyed this one. It was similar enough in theme to its predecessor, but the tone and viewpoint were different. I like that this series is being told from so many different perspectives. It allows the reader to see that the gods war hurt everyone, and no one was a victor - everyone was a victim in some way. And I love how this book deals especially with issues of broken trust, betrayal, hurt, remorse, penitence, and forgiveness. Complicated and beautiful. Human. I enjoyed reading every moment of this book. The story had very little to do with the first book in the series, but I got to watch how the world was transformed after those events. I thought it was really interesting to have the main character / narrator be blind, except for magical things, which she can see. It brought a unique perspective to the world and really highlighted the effect magic had on it. The story was fast paced and exciting and I didn't want it to end!
