Well, then. Lady Aileen has a ruined reputation. Mostly because her war hero of a husband turned out to be an abusive dick and the only way out of the situation was to have an affair and get caught. Retreating to the quiet life in Scotland she is surprised when her younger sister bursts onto the scene when she is meant to be marrying a wealthy son of a Duke, like now. Tara, it turns out, is in love with someone else. Surprise! With a father who has no interest in his daughters other than selling them to the highest bidder and a super pissed off son of a Duke in tow, they arrive back in Scotland to ensure the marriage goes on as planned. But, just perhaps, the bride might change. What can I say? So-so character development, a little uncertainty on the main focus of the story and I didn't feel anyone had true feelings in here except for greed-financially and romantically. I have enjoyed most of Maxwell's books. This was a little different as the heroine is actually divorced, quite a rarity. The hero is an actual bastard. The action begins when Tara runs back to Scotland to avoid her wedding. Much confusion ensues. But of course, love wins out and Tara loses. On to book 2 which I actually had to buy, gasp! Book 3 comes out in Sept. I do like a good series, especially when it takes place in Scotland!!

Loved--I loved how torn the characters were. Very dark and real, so happy when it worked out.
