About book The Bride And The Brute (2011)

Good story idea, but way too short. I could have overlooked the shortness, but this story seemed to end a bit abruptly without enough of a conclusion for my tastes. The story was only about 173 pages long, but then continued to have about 300 pages of samples of other books. That really bothered me. I don't mind reading a novella, but I don't want it to be shorter than the "advertisement" section for other books! A cute, rather enjoyable short story that had the potential to become something much more. I don't feel that Reese's character is explored enough to turn him into a really likable hero. I longed for some further development of Reese's family members and felt they were ill-used in this short-story setting. I would have enjoyed knowing more about the character's lives; perhaps a description of their castle, their character's clothing, daily life, family servants, etc. The lack of description and development makes the story rather flat and dull. Above this, it becomes decidedly far-fetched when we learn of the sister's involvement in the kidnapping (which is never convincingly explained). All this is followed by a fast, nonsensical ending (sex in the mud and rain?) that allowed for no answers, explanations, or recriminations...all left me feeling a bit flat and dissatisfied. Still...a fun time waster.
