About book The Book Of Tomorrow (2009)

When this book first started I thought maybe I grabbed some young adult book, and it very well might have been, but once it got going I thoroughly enjoyed it. When it started I thought this sounded like some wild, spoiled brat, and I was thinking her mouth was so bad that I could not imagine my 16 year old reading this type of book. I was confused when I first started reading, because it was nothing like the description, but I stuck it through and the book paid off. If you enjoy a little mystery, a little love, and little fantasy. You will enjoy this book...I hope. The Book of Tomorrow is about a seventeen-year-old girl called Tamara. She has everything and a rich dad. Tamara believes on living today even if whatever happens tomorrow. One day, her dad commits suicide and they couldn’t pay the bills. The dad leaves Tamara and her mom in shock without their home or money. When her dad commit suicide she said,” I’d never think of tomorrow, I lived in this now.”(pg.40) They had to find for another house alone without any help. Tamara would never know that this would happen. They lost everything. The dad, house, and money.Tamara and her mom had to live somewhere where everything was ruined. Tamara hated it. She couldn’t join her friends. All Tamara did was staying in her room and staring at her window. One day, while staring at the window, she found a library. Tamara thought she had no interest on books. She took a book but when she opened it, it was empty. She had to make her own journal. It was called, The Book of Tomorrow. Tamara ran into an old nun who seemed really nice and became good friend. Tamara had come to love the ruined castle. Tamara said,” I got used to this ruined castle, I like it”. (Pg., 103).When Tamara wanted to start writing on her book, she realized that the first page, there was writing and it was her handwriting. When she saw the date, it was the date for tomorrow. Tamara realized she was reading her diary entry for the next day. She couldn’t believe it at first. Tamara noticed that what was written in the book happened the next day she wrote it. She starts using the book so she could know what would happen the next day."I was perplexed". (pg.136)

Do You like book The Book Of Tomorrow (2009)?

I'd say the beginning of the book was 3 stars, the middle 4 and the end 2 or even 1.The beginning was a little draggy. A lot of pages spent on trying to illustrate what a nasty person Tamara is, how nasty her family has been and how nasty her friends are. It all felt like a little too much.It got much better in the middle, with the mystery very well built up.The end with Rosaleen being a total nutcase because of love and jealousy was just bleh. A whole chapter was spent on explaining the history and the chapter was practically screaming 'I'M BITTERSWEET AND I'M TRYING TO EVOKE SOME FEELINGS!' It just turned me off. And the whole Laurie thing did not make sense. Like what was the point of all that mystery? Couldn't there have been a darker or bigger secret to hide? Like Kilsaneys not being human or something? Also felt Tamara's mother's emotions of grief could have been portrayed better.

I really enjoyed this book.Tamara made me laugh a lot. She's a funny young lass, crude at times, and I love the way she grew throughout the story. The mystery in this story made it hard for me to put the book down.I do agree with some other reviews though that the ending seemed rushed , and perhaps took a little too long to get into, but I really enjoyed the journey. I think I will read another of Ahern's books to compare these.
