In the bookshop, I had a choice of four Milly Johnson books to pick from and this is the one that I chose to read, having never read one of her novels before, well, I didn't quite know what I was getting so I got this one because it was about a writer of romantic fiction and the turn of events that unfold when her husband-to-be leaves her for another woman. And she gets together with the other spurned partner to pull off a cunning plan that will hopefully get them back to their respective lovers and then they can both live happily ever after. A) I wondered how they would accomplish this and B) would it work and if it did, would they want them back in the end? This plot greatly appealed to me and I thoroughly devoured the pages in trying to discover the ending. I'm only sorry now that I didn't buy the other books too if this is a good example of her stories, seeing as it left me wanting more and more I will have, one day anyway. This is a heartwarming, often funny, observant look at the lives of the four characters. Some you come to love and some you detest (okay maybe just one you'll detest!) but you definitely care about what happens to them. The ending, although predictable (hmm, I think I promised to stop saying that didn't I?), is exactly what you want from this kind of romantic story. Who do you think will end up with who? I know I'll want to read this book again, and it's tempted me to purchase some of Milly Johnson's other titles, when my current bookpile has diminished a little that is!
