About book The Best Friend (1992)

I have mix feelings about this book, man. The Best Friend started off really good, but then the main character Becka, started to really annoy me; especially when she loses her patience. Theme:-insecurity-stalking-friendship-self-confidence Characters:Becka’s mom→ is just ugh. She never wanted to listen to Becka; saying she was exaggerating about how Honey treated her. Like dude, if your child is feeling threatened by someone, listen to her.Becka→ Becka has anger management problems, boy problems, and you could tell she loves to be the center of attention. She needed to take a chill pill sometimes. I know Honey was driving her crazy and that is evident throughout the novel, but Becka’s ignorance and not thinking before taking action was annoying. Style/Setting:There wasn’t really anything spooky to me about this book. It was just the suspense on who this Honey girl was and where she came from.Okay, now the plot is somewhat good. I found the ending to be different but—*smh* no never mind. The ending annoyed the crap out of me. I really didn’t like the ending. I’m glad there’s another sequel to this book because The Best Friend leaves you wondering like, “what the freak is going to happen now? This is crazy.” I guess it’s good that a book would do that but ugh. I didn’t like it this time.Well, the imagery was great. I was able to picture things easily. It’s funny because this book was written years ago and the clothing and hairstyles that R.L. Stine described the characters wearing was out of style for the 21st century. So it was nice to read a book with this old school vibe goin’ on.I would have rated this book higher—like a 3.5 – 4.0 stars—if it wasn’t for the ending. But no, *smh*…the ending ruined that plan.Sigh. I can’t wait to read The Best Friend 2 (Fear Street, #50) to see what is going to happen. Who knows when that will be though, I have to find a copy.Lesson Learned? When someone is obsessed over you, tell them how uncomfortable you feel in a nice way.**Recommended? I’m not sure. Everyone will have a different opinion about the ending. Hm…I’ll go ahead and recommend it. It’s a Fear Street book. Come on, even if someone gave a bad review on any Fear Street novel, I would still read it.Book cover: 0Character/Plot Development: 1.5 out of 3Interest: .4 out of 1Imagery: 1-------2.9 stars

WOW. Just WOW! This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the GREATEST Fear Street book in the history of Fear Street books! I don't think any other Fear Street book could top this! In fact, I'd be willing to say that it's the best book in the history of the world! I mean it! It's THAT good! If you haven't read it, READ IT! The plot is very innovative, the characters are very interesting, the villain is VERY complex, and the ending is nothing less than twisted. I'm gonna try and get my own copy of this book so I can have it forever. Plot Synopsis: Honey Perkins was a new girl in Shadyside, but she claims to have been Becka Norwood's best friend back in elementary school. At first, Becka is sympathetic towards Honey, despite not having any memory of being her friend. But soon, she becomes scared by Honey. She's so clingy and copies Becka. Then, Becka's other friends start having horrible accidents. Is Becka being paranoid? Or does Honey want to be Becka's ONLY friend? This book is so PERFECT! What makes the book so great is Honey's character. The depths of her delusions are very startling and her quirky behavior is sort of adorable (in a creepy sort of way). I also love the character of Becka. When I first saw this book, I expected Becka to be a stereotypical popular girl with dozens of friends. But she turned out to be a much more relatable character. (view spoiler)[Her transformation throughout the story from normal teenager to unstable nervous wreck is both horrifying and realistic. It's what gave the book its' horror< (hide spoiler)]

Do You like book The Best Friend (1992)?

This book was SERIOUSLY disappointing in many ways. I've always loved every Fear Street book, but I didn't like this one. The book starts off with Becka and her friends, Lilah and Trish. Holly Perkins burst in right on the first chapter. Or maybe second. Whatever. Things start to get really intense and dramatic, and Holly claims she's Becka's best friend. The problem is, Becka doesn't remember Holly! The same thing just kept on repeating. Holly did something, Becka freaked. And repeat. Holly did something, Becka freaked. It was just some weird cycle. This was a very good story idea, but R.L. Stine didn't do enough with it. Which surprises me to no end. But as soon as I reached the last page, I couldn't help but blurt out, "That was TOO stupid!" We didn't even get a background on Holly, who she is, or why she's doing all of this. And I was so annoyed, because we don't really get to know what even happens in the story. But then I realized there's a part two. Meh. I probably won't be purchasing part two, based on the reviews.
