About book The Beckham Experiment: How The World's Most Famous Athlete Tried To Conquer America (2009)

I felt it was a well written and provided a glimpse into the some of the back office politics that I'm sure come into play in many sports organizations. Wahl did a decent job highlighting some if the key differences between the upstart MLS and much more mature and advanced European leagues. Since this book only took us through the 2008 season I'll need to find out how the rest of the Beckham experiment played out. This book did a good job of describing what went wrong during Beckham's first two seasons with the Galaxy. It didn't really get to the bottom of why he came to America in the first place. That will probably stay with the man himself and his closest entourage. I got the feeling, based on the fact that all the one-on-one stuff in this book was with Donovan and the others, that Becks didn't participate wholeheartedly with the author.

Good book...not great. Felt like it was just one side to a multi-layered story.
