A delightful and beautiful book that goes behind the scenes and into the background of the making of the Disney movie, "Frozen". It showcases a number of storyboards and some of the earliest concept artwork, including the original "Snow Queen" Elsa (with Anna originally being a peasant). The writers had clearly put in more than their share of passion, commitment, research, and sheer hard work, all for the joy of it! The only critique I would have is that I find it a little hard to read white writing on a black background, but that minor quibble does not take away from the little bundle of joy that is this book. You get to see Elsa as a brunette!That fun aside, this was a very interesting book, if you are a fan of the movie or digital animation. I enjoyed the detail the book gave to the look of the kingdom, even including photographs of chapels and neighborhoods in Norway as inspiration. The evolution of the film from "The Snow Queen" to "Frozen" was also proven in the book, with many of the early designs showing a dark, twisted Elsa, rather than the abused, frightened and, ultimately, liberated and loved queen she would become. The pen and ink drawings of Anna meeting Hans were my favorite. They were completely black and white, save for Hans' ginger head, painted a flaming red. I don't know why, but this struck me as hilarious. Highly recommended.
