While sometimes long winded and tedious, if you are an art lover then this inside look at how the investigative side of finding new works of art is fascinating. The author is an art dealer and historian who travels the world to find the next Gainsborough or British portrait that never recognized. One or two of the stories got a bit long and strayed from the hunt to personality discussions which might have left room for another story if condensed. It was a learning experience into the world of art from a different perspective and that was enjoyable to me. With a new found interest in Art history, this book was enjoyable to read. With intricate detail, Phillip Mould reveals how 6 different paintings true identities are eventually revealed. The most amazing story to me was how a Norman Rockwell painting hung in a museum for over 30 years before the discovery that it was a fake. I enjoyed seeing the photographs of each work in question, and I found myself self studying the images with each new revelation. I reccomend this book for anyone who even has the slightest interest in Art history.
