That is the premise of THE ALPINE XANADU.But much of the story revolves around the usual flippant characters, Vida, House & Home Editor at The Advocate (town's newspaper); Sheriff Milo Dodge; reporters, Mitch and Amanda; and ad manager, Leo.Like THE ALPINE WINTER, not a lot transpires in Xanadu, except for a few witty lines from Emma and Milo, who seem to be at the forefront of the newest Alpine installments. Their engagement is the center of attention. Because of Milo and Emma's recent engagement, the plots and mysteries are put on the back burner, slowly simmering. Which might irate newcomers to the series.My advice: if you want to know what is going on in the world of Alpine, start at the beginning "The Alpine Advocate"). When you get to Xanadu, you will have a better understanding of the crazy characters and their bizarre situations. Been following Emma Lord since the beginning, The Alpine Advocate. This one did get a little crazy with who's married or was married to who, etc... But nice addition seeing a little more of Milo's daughter... And surprising interchange between Emma and Mulehide. Off now to read #25 in the series, The Alpine Yeoman... And can't help but get a little snuffy thinking once she reaches "Z" the series will be over. A damn fine run Mary Daheim!
