I will admit I was fairly excited to FINALLY be able to download this book! I’ve been waiting for this sequel since I finished the first book About A Girl. I absolutely love Lindsey’s I Heart series and when I finished About a Girl I knew I was just as much in love with this series and it’s characters too!The story starts more or less from where About A Girl ended (review here) with Tess in a bit of a pickle about what she’s going to do with herself. Stay at home and start up her own advertising company with gorgeous best friend Charlie, or hop on a plane to Milan and turn her photography hobby into something more.I absolutely fell in love with Tess and her story in the first book. I feel like we’re best friends and while I was reading her story I felt like she was more or less talking directly to me such as Lindsey’s writing allows you to feel. I love how funny her character is, how dry and witty her sense of humour is and how it feels so much like mine making it appeal to me all the more. This style of writing carries on into What a Girl Wants and you can pick up being best friends with Tess as seamlessly as the story starts. The last book was left on a bit of a cliff hanger as far as Tess’s love life is concerned. On one hand there is arrogant, cocky, annoying, arseholey journalist Nick who Tess met in Hawaii and on the other hand there is gorgeous loveable Charlie, Tess’s best friend of ten years. My personal favourite is Nick. I was so attracted to his Daniel Craig looks and his cocky, “I’m always right”, sexy attitude. I also really loved how unashamedly attracted Tess was too him – sort of lived vicariously through her…into the bedroom! Anyway! The story continues in the same vain with Tess torn between both guys where Nick is the unpredictable and exciting option, Charlie always just kind of felt like the puppy dog you will always love! One thing that is ALWAYS the same brilliant standard throughout Lindsey’s novels is the superbly detailed setting. This story is set in Milan, Italy. Not a place I’ve actually been to but now I feel like I could have been. Lindsey has a total knack of completely transporting you to the settings of her stories with an almost unbeatable precision. I have visited other parts of Italy and I could feel the same vibes coming from the pages as I read through the story. As with all of her other books I zoomed through this unable to put it down. I loved the characters, I loved the setting and I absolutely laughed my head off in parts. If you’ve never read anything by Lindsey I can totally recommend you all of her work and if you’ve not read About A Girl you definitely should! WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW??Please, please, please tell me there will be another one because I am so not ready for this to end. Lindsey Kelk makes you feel like you aren't stupid or incompetent and that actually you are going to be okay - well that's how she makes me feel. I love all the British humour and I think she's without a doubt, one of the most intelligent and witty writers I've ever had the pleasure or reading.
Do You like book Tess Staat Voor Het Blok (2014)?
