This book I thought was pretty amazing. Some parts of the book had just sheer energy that wowed me and made me read faster to find out what was going to happen next. Sections where I'm actually gripping the book harder and my blood gets pumping. Those parts of the book were written, in my opinion, masterfully. It's a very exciting plot which includes sci-fi, mystery, and relationships between young teens. This is a mix that I very much enjoy and I am excited to read the next book. I would recommend this book to any young teen like myself. Perfect for middle schoolers looking to start reading Neal Shusterman. It is fast-paced with a strong cast of characters who find themselves wrapped up in a mystery that they did not sign on for. When Nick moves with his brother and father to a new town the first thing he does is set up a yard-sale to get rid of all the random junk found in the attic, soon to be his new room. When people start crashing cards to ensure they get the item they want, and the creepy strangers in the white SUV, it is clear that something strange is going on. Nick and his new friends have to solve the mystery before the men in white, but they don't know what they are searching for! There is clearly an evil force at force, but from which side is it coming? Full of typical middle school issues (where to sit at lunch, unrequited crushes, plans backfiring) laced with darkness lurking around corners this is a strong start to the trilogy.

what a delightful read. Fun, full of interesting imageries and well formed characters.

Cute, fun, interesting. Not my favorite, but was much better than I expected.
