This biography is written in a style that is immediately friendly and welcoming, and allows the reader to really feel like they get to know who Temple Grandin is. I also enjoyed reading her journal excerpts, which offered additional insights into her amazing mind. I would use this book for units on friendship, differences, or overcoming challenges. This book is not written in person first language and throws around the R word too many times. I was listening to this book while driving my daughter to daycare and had to turn it off when she was in the car with me because the language was so degrading. Temple Grandin’s life sends a very positive message of overcoming adversity, but I could not get past the wording used in this book. I would not use this book in my classroom, if I did use it would be to show how powerful words are. Grades 2-5.
