Very nicely written.This just gives more depth to the whole Wilder Family history.When I started reading this I already finished the whole series of the Chosen Ones. I really don't have any idea if this Darkness Chosen Novels is a spin-off from the Chosen Ones Novels or if it's the other way around, but when I started reading this novel it felt as if I was moving back in time and finding out hidden truths behind some of the ideas I read in the Chosen Ones Novels (especially when it came with Alexander Wilder and his family). Although the pacing of the story felt a little slow for me, I still find the whole book very informative. Christina Dodd spent a lot of time building the whole world of the Darkness Chosen and the also the characters behind these novels. It might be slow for me but for those who will be picking up this Novels first and not the Chosen Series, the whole time spent describing and building the Darkness Chosen world would help them have a more tangible idea of how the characters and the whole novels environment feels.All in all this is a great book to break the habit of reading vampire novels I have mixed feelings about this book. The plotting was good, as was the prose. My problem mostly lies with Jacqueline. I thought she was so childish that it made it hard to think of her as sexy or powerful. I know the idea was probably to show how she grew as a person, but that change took way too long to happen. By the time I found something to like about her, the book was almost over. I'm happy to see the next book in the series is about Aaron. I might like that one better.Another problem I had was with the head-hopping. I would think a chapter was being told in one character's POV, but then for a sentence or two, the POV would shift and I'd get confused.
