The prequel to the Alexanders series that just made my eyes roll. Trent goes over the Mara's, his best friend's sister, to give her her 25th b-day present. He's nervous about the whole thing. Apparently he wants her and has avoided her for that reason. However Mara's brother Mark asked Trent to look over her. Her parents are out of town and he's agreed to take her out. "Trent no longer had a girlfriend so it hadn't been any imposition to spend a little time with Mara." Apparently having a girlfriend makes it impossible to help a buddy's sister out. First eye roll.She opens the door wearing yoga pants and apparently he almost loses control there on the stoop. Second eye roll. He goes on and on in his head about how sexy she is and how much he needs to keep his hands off her.As it happens, Mara wants Trent. Not liking his hands off ideas, she plans a night where she cooks, preforms yoga, and comes on to him. He's interested but back petals, she feels rejected but doesn't push and he plans to leave. However while on his way to the bathroom he finds and picks up her vibrator. He's shocked she has toys, she comes onto him again, they have lots of sex, the end.I didn't mind what it was designed to do but Trent in particular was just plain silly and there was no depth to either of them. This might have been a better story in reverse, one that's read after knowing the characters. It doesn't inspire me to read anymore about them. The prequel to the Alexander's series introduces us to Mara and Trent. This is a very nice, sweet story. The only thing Trent's best friend has ever asked of him is to keep an eye on his twin sister while he's deployed. Keeping her company on her birthday shouldn't be too hard. He just has to remember the promise he made to himself to keep his hands off her. Since Mara walked into her brother's dorm room freshman year and came face to face with Trent, she's known he was The One. Now she just has to convince him.
