About book Teaching: It's Harder Than It Looks (2012)
This was a super quick read. I enjoy Gerry Dee's comedy, love the show, but I have to say that I think this book would appeal more to teachers or those familiar with the profession than just a general audience. Having said that, at times I felt like there was a hidden camera on my life, because I have definitely experienced some of the situations he describes. I got a little tired of the lists injected into the text, as well as the repeated quotations which were highlighted throughout (I read the ebook version, not sure what the paper version is like). Generally, a fun, fast read. Never heard of the man or the show; came across this while shelving at work - glad I took a chance!I laughed so hard, not a few times, that it was well worth the repetitive style of his story-telling (hint: if the title is your message there is no need to repeat it every chapter {or more})I would consider going to his show if he cones to Vancouver, that's how much I was laughing.For the story of the kid 'running around the gym in a careless fashion', that alone is reason to read this.I'm not sure if it's as funny when you haven't worked with children...but for me, I have been there & can picture it now!

As a high school teacher I find this book hilarious. As a reader, I find it disappointingly thin.
