I pulled this off the ARC shelves of the bookstore where I work part time, hoping to finally find a YA trilogy I could really enjoy and handsell the crap out of. I think this may be it- I didn't LOVE it, but I can see why other people are going to.This was a weird combination of Practical Magic, The Handmaid's Tale and The Secret Garden. I read it very quickly and appreciated that the paranormal powers were held by the female protagonist while the male love interest was all WTF I AM A MERE HUMAN WHO CAN DO NO THINGS WITH MY MIND. It has problems- it's full of YA tropes that we're all sick of- the love triangle, supernatural ANYTHING, Big Bad Governments Doing Big Bad Things. The Message of the book is capital M, but that may just be because of its intended audience (YA isn't known for its subtlety). It is refreshing to see a YA protagonist make decisions based on what she thinks is best for her and her family, as opposed to what is best for the boy she loves. And the sort-of-dystopia-but-in-the-past thing is really interesting. Anyway, I enjoyed it as a light, quick thing. I'll look out for the rest of the trilogy when it comes out. I think the YA crowd will eat this up, and for the rest of us, it's a nice airplane book. Este libro me ha gustado. Muchos cambios de ritmo o giros en la historia que aportan mucho y que a veces no llegas a esperartelos. Igual los personajes son muy versátiles y están perfilados en la historia. Con las hermanas Cahill se aprecia una gran trabajo de estructura, porque cada una de ellas es diferente en tantos aspectos que se agradece.En el amor la única pega que le pondría es que me hubiera gustado que pudieran tratarse más, conocerse mejor. Es un amor inocente y dulce, que aún así yo disfrute en todo momento.Le escritura como la trama logran que sea una lectura muy adictiva en la que no veo hora de ponerme con su segunda parte pronto.
